That's enough for a one-hour family show, easily! Mis-made Pirate flag plays really well, it's one of my signature routines. "Passing Water" is ideal - I present mine as a "seasickness cure". "Missing Spade" is also perfect, probably the best card trick for a pirate show. Rope Tricks, Coin tricks (Miser's Dream?), water tricks, loads of card tricks, T&R paper with a treasure map (don't like the marketed version, it's very awkward, just use your favourite T&R method). You can also get a very comical pirate puppet here: It's intended for signing, but can be used as a regular vent puppet.Īnything icky, sticky, grimy, etc, plays well. If you do get a real parrot, it's possible to train them to find a chosen card - but don't know if you'd have time to do that in time for your shows. Real MacCaw is just too realistic for my liking. If you do this, you'll need to tweak things a bit, by f*****g the bags another way.Īxtell's Rat puppet is a big winner, but I'd recommend "Pedro Parrot" over "The Real MacCaw", it plays better in my opinion, as it's a really funny looking bird.

Alos find out who has the best pirate laugh, you tell each a dreadful pirate joke. Have four kids and an adult on stage, give them all a pirate hat, and have them walk, talk, dance, and sing like a pirate. It's an older kids' trick, though, so for a family show, I make it the final effect in a "How to be a Pirate" competition. A treasure chest production is good, and Buccaneer Booty - already mentioned also uses a nice treasure chest, and has a good pirate theme. Ahoy! To be honest, I'd say go with material you know pretty well, and simply put a pirate twist to it.
